Workshop "Jardin Bizarre" – with Clemens Lauer & Max Guderian
As part of the “Jardin Bizarre” workshop, the task was to deconstruct classic garden objects and reinterpret them in new product contexts. The starting point for our work was the red plate swing—a familiar fixture in German gardens and playgrounds—which takes on a new function through repurposing.
The swing transforms into a hanging social table: a circular wooden top, laser-cut with seven precisely sized cutouts, securely holds beer glasses in place. The original red swing rope remains the supporting element and is stabilized by a threaded aluminum tube connected to the top via a connector. Three loops with carabiner hooks at the top allow the object to be attached to a branch—with infinitely adjustable height, depending on the group and need.
The name is a playful nod to Bavarian pub culture and the tradition of raising glasses in a circle. A childhood toy becomes a ritual object for adults—floating, collective, situational.
